Norwegian Centre for Learning Environment and Behavioural Research in Education


Norwegian Centre for Learning Environment and Behavioural Research in Education is both a research centre within the University of Stavanger as well as a national resource centre working with preschools and schools throughout Norway.

The centre’s main goals are to produce research based knowledge on the development of social and emotional problems and how preschools and schools can effectively reduce and prevent problems among children and adolescents.

Vision: Research and competence-building focused on reducing social and emotional problems in preschools and schools.

The CBR has three research groups:
1. School-innovation research
2. Emotional problems in preschools and schools
3. Externalzing behavioral problems among children and adolescents

CBR carries out national representative surveys of School Envir-onment (questionnaires among students, teachers, principals) every 3 years and has accumulated an extensive database since 1995 (1995-1998-2001-2004-2008).

Norwegian Centre for Learning Environment and Behavioural Research in Education is a research centre within the University of Stavanger.

The University of Stavanger, Norway, has about 9200 stu-dents and 1100 administration, faculty and service staff.

The University is organized in three Faculties, including two national centres of expertise, one of them beiing CBR.
