    Being bullied can cause trauma symptoms

    (05.11.2012) Problems caused by bullying do not necessarily cease when the abuse stops. Recent research at the Universitiy of Stavanger (UiS) and Bergen’s Center for Crisis Psychology in Norway shows that victims may need long-term support.

    (15.03.2007) About 5-10 % of pupils of primary or middle school in Norway (age up to 16) are bullied weekly or more often by fellow pupils. This is around 10% of the youngest pupils and around 5 % of the older pupils.

SUFFERING IN SILENCE: Symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may cause big problems of concentration, have disruptive effects and prevent the sufferer from functioning normally in daily life.

By bullying, we mean mental and/or physical abuse of a victim, carried out by individuals or groups.

Bullying assumes an unequal power relationship between the victim and the victimiser.

Bullying is defined to be episodes repeated over time.
